Today I am giving notice of a petition I’m launching to restore the bus services cut due to the Labour government’s changes to employment laws, National List MP based in Mt Roskill Dr Parmjeet Parmar says.
“The Mt Roskill electorate suffered a disproportionate cut in services from 6 May. Of the 41 cuts across Auckland there are seven that are occurring within the boundaries of the Mt Roskill electorate.
“The Labour Government’s changes to employment law has created a situation resulting in a shortage of bus drivers. On one side we are promoting public transport but on the other people are experiencing cuts to such services.
“Given the projected population growth, housing developments in the area and the four major arterial routes (Sandringham Rd, Mt Eden Rd, Dominion Rd, Manukau Rd) that run through most of the Mt Roskill electorate, it is important there are adequate bus services available.
“I’m starting the petition to restore services and ensure no other future cuts are planned”
The MP’s petition will be both on her website – parmjeetparmar.co.nz and available to sign at her Stoddard Road electorate office.
